I have used a few different kinds of Molcajetes so I know how useful it is to have one in your home. I never thought that I would one day own one of these since I rarely ever made meals that go great with a freshly made salsa in a molcajete but also after a few years I did get tired of having to go ask family members to borrow theirs when I needed it so I figured it was time I buy one for myself no matter how much it would cost me. I spent a good amount of time looking on ebay and here on Amazon, spending lots of time reading product descriptions, looking at pictures and most importantly reading customer reviews until I came upon this one and instantly fell in love with it. I was looking for one that was deep enough to hold a good amount of salsa since the one I always borrowed from my mother in law wasn't deep enough to my liking and I was always spilling the salsa since it can barely hold anything and since this one had ok reviews and says it can hold up to 4 cups I decided to risk it and see how it would arrive and to try it out for myself. I have had this so far for about a month and have it used it so far about a handful of times and love it. I am able to smash about 2 roma tomatoes and 3-4 jalapenos without making a big mess and the salsa comes out pretty good. I'm not going to lie and say it is perfect but I also can't say it's horrible. The only complaints I would have to say I have are that the pestle is not long enough to be able to keep on mashing a good amount of salsa without getting my fingertips in the salsa but I can get over that. The other thing I have to say is that the molcate and pestle are too soft for my liking which means that I have to make sure that the tomatoes and chilies are soft enough to be grinded down nicely. Even though it requires a bit more effort into using it for fresh salsas it also it better than the other molcajetes I have used in the way that this one is so much easier to clean. In the ones I have used the seeds and bits of the tomatoes or chilies would get stuck in the sides since they aren't smooth like this one is. When I received it I knew I had to cure it so I did so by grinding rice until it was mostly all finely grinded and then I threw the rice away and grinded into a paste a few pieces of garlic gloves with a bit of water and left it over night. The next day I washed off all of the garlic paste and felt it was ready to use it.
